How to video
First media project, based on making a tutorital
A how to video is a common video format on streaming services such as YouTube, they're very useful for quickly learning the basics of a skill or a software without investing lots of time and money for classes.
Reflection
Over a 3 week period, I proposed, planned, filmed and edited my Webnode blog aswell as my camera angles tutorial video. Aside from the model used in my video, the project was created solo. I was overwhelmed at first, I didn't know how I'd go about the process, and ended up prioritizing the video editing process over the blog itself. After the project I now understand why the pre-production should be done in order, it'll help me follow the schedule milestones in order.
What went well: The creative process was my favourite part of the project, and the part I believe came out best. Finding the location, recording and post production are the elements I believe need the least improvement.
Even better if: For my next project, I'll focus more on the research elements of my project. I feel I could have better utilized the example videos I used to create my own video project.
One issue I did have was padding out time in my video, as my script came out a lot shorter than I initially thought it would, just hitting the 2 minute mark. I decided to use clips from other movies and TV shows to fill what would otherwise have been a blank background.
When things went right, it was because I had a clearer idea of what I was doing. There were times in the project where I felt confused, or couldn't figure out how a task tied into the main work. However, when I understood the direct correlation between the smaller task and the overarching assignment, the work came out a lot better. A lot of the time, this happened when I asked more questions.
I spent a lot of the first assignment getting used to using the software, and becoming familiar with resources. The experience gained from this assignment will make future projects a lot faster.
